Background:
The Actuarial Department of Manulife-Sinochem has completed Valuation System Transformation (VST) project to establish a valuation environment consistent with the other Divisions/BUs across Manulife. One of the key objectives and components of the VST project is to consolidate and convert the numerous legacy valuation models into three Super models compliant with Manulife’s modelling standards. The VST project also provided a solid foundation for the development and implementation of IFRS17 compliant valuation models and process.
The incumbent will be a member of the Manulife-Sinochem’s Actuarial Modeling team and will be held responsible for maintaining and enhancing the VST Super Models, as well as implement and maintain the IFRS17 valuation models.
Responsibility:
Accountable for model assumptions, methodology and model structure changes into the valuation models on all required bases (CIFRS, China GAAP, Solvency, CROSS, EV/NBV), adhering to model change management protocols and Global modeling principles/standards and best practice. Work closely with the reporting actuaries and provide proactive support during month-end/ quarter-end reporting process, incl. new products implementation in Axis model, production model runs, basis change or other regular valuation deliverables. Support the development of IFRS17 compliant valuation models, and implement the models in time for parallel testing. Ensure model input and output are correct and consistent with the intended context of the model. Ensure assigned models have appropriate documentation Execute mitigation plan to close identified model gaps against applicable VST/IFRS17 standards Provide Support to internal and external audit partners and model vetting Work on research and investigation on assigned projects. This includes understanding the problem and implications on key stakeholders, produce analysis, develop solutions, present recommendations and support implementation and model improvement.
Qualifications:
Degree holder with progression towards professional actuarial qualifications 2-4 years of relevant experience in actuarial modeling, valuation or reporting. Strong AXIS modeling skill is a plus.
